Dreary Rainy Day

It seems like we have three dreary days and then one sunny "tease" day, and then right back to dreary. Today was the dreary day after the sunny tease day, and the forecast called for freezing rain... ugh. I had PT this morning so afterwards hubby met me in town and we did our "big" monthly grocery shopping  We had lunch at Sam's Club because where else can you get a Nathan's hot dog and a gigantic, refillable soda for $1.70? We lucked out with the weather  because, although it was dark and dreary, it didn't start raining until we were almost done.

We had one more stop to make... the bread store, but since we were supposed to get freezing rain, we decided that the bread store trip could wait another day or two. We headed home.

I don't know about you but cold, dreary, rainy days always make me want to bake something. I don't know if it's that the oven warms up the kitchen, or that the smell of something baking makes the day a little less dreary, but baking is what I want to do. I don't always want to make something time consuming and today was one of those days.  So after putting the groceries away, I made some apple pastries that are super simple to make and are one of hubby's favorite treats.

There are four ingredients...
refrigerated crescent rolls, butter, a couple of apples and some cinnamon sugar.

Separate the crescent rolls, smear some butter on one side and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar...

Quarter the apples, place one piece on each crescent roll and roll the dough around the apple...

Pop them in a 350 degree oven and bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown on top...

Remove from the oven and turn your tea kettle on....

...make yourself a cup of cappuccino and enjoy!

We are hoping for snow instead of ice so we used our snowman mugs and napkins!

Thanks for dropping by...
